RISC August News - Jobs

Since the launch of the healthcare jobs pipeline in June 2018, more than 50 job-seekers from Richmond's distressed neighborhoods have been hired into entry-level jobs at VCU Health!

The hospital jobs are a crucial step in a pipeline that includes soft-skills training and support from local workforce centers, medical training opportunities, and benefits including the potential to advance in the healthcare workforce.

RISC has worked since 2012 to bring together hospital systems, community college and training entities, and workforce centers to create a sustainable, innovative pathway for job-seekers to enter high-demand healthcare jobs. This summer, the plan became a reality!

As noted in the Richmond Free Press May 27 article, "Looking for a Job?" the pipeline has a full-time coordinator who has been recruiting participants, particularly among recent high school graduates.

With all three regional hospital systems now on board and dozens of applicants actively involved in the pipeline, RISC is dedicated to continue following up to see this program grow.
